Group By Field

Group By field is a feature that gives you the ability to categorize tasks within your Gantt chart or Timeline based on a specific Jira field. This field could represent various aspects like:

  1. Status: Group tasks by their current status in the Jira workflow (e.g., To Do, In Progress, Done). This helps visualize the progress of your project across different stages.

  1. Assignee: Group tasks by the team member. This allows you to track resource allocation and identify potential bottlenecks for specific individuals.

  1. Issue Type: Group tasks by their Jira issue type (e.g.,  Epic, Bug, Story, Task, or Subtask). This helps you understand each task of your project at a glance and prioritize different types of work.

  1. Priority: Group tasks by their priority level (e.g., High, Medium, Low). This allows you to focus on high-priority tasks within your Gantt chart and ensure they stay on track.

  1. Fix Version: Group tasks by the Jira version they are targeted for. This helps visualize the progress for upcoming releases and identify potential dependencies.

  2. Sprint: This feature allows users to group issues/tasks by Sprints within the Timeline and Gantt views, enhancing task management and sprint planning.

Group by Sprint is only applied and available on the Scrum Project.

  • Simply navigate to the ‘Group By’ option to switch the view by Sprint. This will organize tasks into sections by sprint for easy sprint planning and tracking.

  • Click the + button next to the sprint name to add a new sprint and assign tasks directly from the Gantt view.

  • Then the Create Sprint dialog box will appear. You’ll need to fill in the following information:

    • Board: Choose the board for the sprint (e.g., "SPRIN board").

    • Name: Enter a sprint name, such as "Sprint 5."

    • Start Date and End Date: Specify the sprint’s start and end dates.

    • Goal (optional): Define the sprint’s goal to clarify its purpose.

Click Create to save the new sprint. This sprint will then be added to the Gantt chart & Timeline for task assignment.
