What is the ICS File Format?

ICS stands for iCalendar, a standard file format used to exchange calendar data. ICS feeds are widely supported by various calendar programs and applications, including Google Calendar, Apple Calendar (formerly iCal), and Microsoft Outlook. These ICS files are plain text files that store details like the meeting title, time, and attendee information.

With the TimePlanner's Calendar, users can easily export their scheduled tasks or events and import them to external calendars ensuring seamless integration across different platforms. How to get it? Let's follow the guidelines below:

How to Export Tasks/Events to ICS Feed

  1. Go to Calendars from the left-hand menu.

  3. In the Export to ICS feed dialog, select the date range you want to export.

  4. Click CleanShot 2026-08-21 at 11.19.44@2x-20260821-041944.jpg to download the ICS file.

The ICS file is generated for the selected period and can then be imported into an external calendar.

Please note that the tasks you import into other calendar tools will appear at 00:00 because TimePlanner does not define specific start or end times when scheduling tasks.

How to Import ICS Feed to External Calendar

1. Import ICS feed to Google Calendar

  1. Open your browser and go to Google Calendar.

  2. Click the Settings (⚙️) icon in the top-right corner and select Settings.

  1. From the left sidebar, select Import & Export.

  1. Under the Import section, click Select file from your computer.

  2. Locate and open the ICS file you exported earlier.

  3. Choose the calendar where you want to add the imported events.

  4. Click Import button to finalize.

2. Import ICS feed to Outlook

  1. Open Outlook Calendar and click Add calendar in the sidebar.

  1. Select Upload from file from the left sidebar.

  1. Click Browse, choose your .ics file, then click Open.

  2. Select the calendar where you want to add the imported events.

  3. Click Import button to finalize.

3. Import ICS feed to Apple Calendar

  1. Open the Calendar app on your Mac. Click File on the menu bar and select Import from the drop-down menu.

  1. Locate and select the ICS file you want to import, then click Import.

  2. Choose which calendar to add the events to, or select New Calendar to create a separate one.
