Updating recurring task series

Here’s what you can update:

  • Change the recurrence pattern (e.g., from Weekly to Bi-weekly),

  • Set a new ‘Until’ date.

  • Or switch to “Does not repeat” if you no longer want the task to repeat.

Via Task Card

  1. From the Schedule Board, right-click on any task within the recurring series

  2. From the context menu, select image-20250826-104040.png Edit

  3. A prompt will appear asking which part of the recurring series you want to edit:

  • This task: Apply changes only to the selected task.

  • This and the following tasks: Apply changes to the selected task and all future occurrences in the series.

  • All tasks in the series: Apply changes to all tasks in the entire recurring series.

  1. After selecting an option, update the task details as needed:

  • Hour/Day: Adjust daily work duration

  • Start date and end date: Set the task date range.

  • Modify recurrence: (only for “This and the following tasks” and “All tasks in the series”)

    • Choose a recurrence pattern (e.g., Daily, Weekly).

    • Set the Until date for the recurrence.

    • Select the days of the week the task should repeat on.

Via the Planning Detail panel

You can update a recurring task series directly from the Planning Detail panel.

  1. Open the Planning Detail Panel

From the Scheduler Board, you can open the Planning Detail panel in one of two ways:

  • Right-click on the task card and select CleanShot 2026-08-18 at 13.27.24@2x-20260818-062729.jpg from the context menu.

  • Simply click directly on the task card to open the Planning Detail panel.

You can also use the Planning Detail from the Calendar Board and follow the same steps as on the Schedule Board.

  1. In the Details tab, update the planning information as needed:

  • Hour/Day: Adjust daily work duration

  • Duration: Set the task date range.

  • Repeat: Choose how often the task repeats (e.g., Weekly, Bi-weekly).

  • Until: Set the “Until” date to define when the recurrence stops. (The ‘Until’ date must be the same as or later than the task’s end date).

  • Occur: Select which weekdays the task should recur on.

  1. After clicking Update, a confirmation dialog will appear with two options:

  • This and following tasks: Apply changes to the selected task and all future occurrences in the series.

  • All tasks in the series: Apply changes to all tasks in the entire recurring series.

  1. Choose your preferred option, then click CleanShot 2026-08-18 at 13.52.12@2x-20260818-065212.jpg to apply your changes.

Via Jira Work Item Detail panel

TeamBoard TimePlanner also allows you to update recurring tasks directly from the Jira Work Item Detail panel without opening the TimePlanner app.

  1. Open the Jira work item you want to update.

  2. In the right-hand panel, click Open TeamBoard TimePlanner to open the planning section.

  3. In the planning section, click CleanShot 2026-08-18 at 15.57.33@2x-20260818-085738.jpg to open the Update plan form.

  1. Update the following fields as needed:

  • Hour/Day: Adjust the planned hours per day.

  • Start Date – End Date: Change the task date range.

  • Repeat: Choose how often the task repeats, such as Weekly or Bi-weekly.

  • Until: Set the date when the recurrence should stop.

  • Occur: Select the weekdays on which the task should repeat.

Note: The Until date must be the same as or later than the task’s end date.

  1. Click Update to apply your changes.

Once you update the task plan, the changes are automatically reflected in TeamBoard TimePlanner.

When updating via Jira Work Item Detail, your changes will be applied to all tasks in the entire recurring series.
