About GanttTable

How can I add dependency mapping using custom work item links?

You can use either default work item links or custom work item links to set up dependency mappings in the GanttTable.

Please refer to the documentation here: [Document]

How can I map fields to Jira data fields?

You can use date-type fields—either default or custom fields—to map the Start Date and End Date boxes in GanttTable to Jira date fields.

Please refer to the documentation here: [Document]

Why is dependency mapping needed to link issues on the Gantt chart?

Dependency mappings allow you to track and store relationships between issues directly within each issue’s details. This makes it easier to visualize how tasks are connected—for example, which task must be completed before another can begin.

When you map dependencies, the Gantt chart can automatically display arrows between linked tasks, helping teams identify potential scheduling conflicts, delays, or dependencies that affect the overall timeline.

Can I create a Custom Hierarchy in GanttTable without using Jira hierarchy?

Yes, you can create a custom hierarchy using Jira issue links by building your own custom structure.

Refer to the documentation here: [Link]

Does GanttTable support Non-working Days and Holidays?

Not yet. Currently, our development team is implementing support for non-working days.

Holiday support is planned for a future update.

How do I set up the structure: Sprint → Epic → Story → Subtask or FixVersion → Epic → Story → Subtask in GanttTable?

To create this structure, you need to build a Custom structure in GanttTable by using:

  • "Group by Sprint" (or "Group by FixVersion")

  • And selecting the "Jira hierarchy" structure.

To reflect the correct Jira hierarchy, you must explicitly link:

  • Story items as children of Epic items

  • Subtask items as children of Story/Task/Bug items

There are two ways to set up these relationships:

Option 1: Link issues via the “Parent” column in GanttTable

  1. Click the “Add column” button in the GanttTable view and add the Parent field.

  2. For each Story/Task/Bug issue you want to link, search for the Epic by its issue key or summary and set it as the parent.
(You can also use this method to link Subtask issues to their parent Story/Task/Bug issues.)
See the image below for reference.

Option 2: Link issues using the Jira issue details dialog

  1. Open the issue details dialog for the Epic (or for a Story/Task/Bug issue, if adding a Subtask).

  2. Click the “Add” button below the issue summary.

  3. Choose “Child work item.”

  1. Add the desired Story/Task/Bug issues for the Epic, or add Subtask issues for a Story/Task/Bug issue.

  1. Reload the GanttTable to reflect the updated structure.

Can I combine the Jira hierarchy (Epic → Story → Subtask) with Custom hierarchy based on issue link types in GanttTable?

No. Currently, GanttTable treats Jira hierarchy and Custom hierarchy as two separate modes, and they CANNOT be combined in a single structure.

  • Jira hierarchy refers to the default parent–child relationships in Jira, such as Epic → Story/Task/Bug → Subtask. To display this structure in GanttTable, the issues must follow these built-in relationships. This is automatically recognized when you select “Jira hierarchy” as your structure type.

  • Custom hierarchy, on the other hand, uses issue link types (e.g., blocks, relates to, is blocked by) to build parent–child relationships between issues. When creating a Custom structure in GanttTable, you can define which link type should represent this relationship. Only the relationships based on the selected link type will be displayed as a tree in the table.

Please Note

If you choose Custom hierarchy, the default Jira hierarchy will no longer be applied in the structure, and vice versa.

Security

Where is data stored?

Your data is stored on Google Cloud globally in all regions, using Cloud SQL from GCP. All data is encrypted before being stored in database tables and encrypted while being transmitted between the client and server. Please check this documentation as a reference.

*Please note: all stored data is app-related, NOT your personal data. DevSamurai does not collect, process, or store any personal or identifiable information across our apps and services.

How secure is my data in GanttTable?

It is our top priority to keep your data secure. Routemap has been verified for SOC 2 Type II Compliance and undergoes regular penetration testing to ensure robust security.
