Gantt Chart vs. Timeline
ProScheduler offers both Timeline and Gantt Chart features for visualizing tasks, but each serves different purposes with distinct functionalities. Below is a detailed comparison to help you understand their differences:
Task hierarchy
Timeline: Follows the Issue hierarchy from Jira (Initiatives → Epic → Issue → Sub-task). This structure reflects the levels and dependencies as set in Jira.
Gantt Chart: Uses a custom hierarchy based on the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), allowing greater flexibility in defining task relationships.
Advanced features in Gantt Chart
Gantt Chart: Includes advanced project management features such as: Baseline tracking; Critical Path identification; Inline Task creation, and Drag-and-Drop Task Hierarchy Updates.
Timeline: Does not include these advanced features.
Usage options
You can choose to use either Timeline, Gantt Chart, or both based on your project needs. This flexibility can be adjusted in the Feature settings.
