Authorization and Connections
To use AssetIT Asset Importer, you must have AssetIT installed in your Jira instance.
If you haven’t installed it yet, you can get AssetIT here: Install AssetIT
Before importing data from any external system, Asset Importer must be authorized to communicate with both sides of the integration:
AssetIT, which receives and manages the imported asset data
The selected data source, which provides the data to be imported
Validate AssetIT API Credentials
AssetIT API credentials are required to allow Asset Importer to create or update asset records in AssetIT.
Open Asset Importer in Jira.
Navigate to the AssetIT API Credentials tab.
Enter the Client ID and Client Secret generated in AssetIT.

Learn how to generate your Client ID and Client Secret in AssetIT ->
Click Save & Check Connection.

If the credentials are valid, a confirmation message will indicate the connection is established.
Choose a Source to Connect
After the AssetIT API credentials are validated, you must connect a data source to import data from.
Navigate to the Source tab and click Connect with Microsoft.

At times, Asset Importer may require additional permissions to proceed with the integration. Click
if you wish to continue.

Next, review the request message. It confirms that Asset Importer needs access to your Microsoft account to import device data. Click Continue to proceed with authorization.

You’ll be redirected to the Microsoft login screen. Choose the Microsoft account you want to connect to, or sign in with another account.

After login and authorization, the connection status updates to Connected, confirming Asset Importer links to the selected source.

Once these prerequisites are completed, you can proceed to configure import settings and start importing device data from Intune into AssetIT.
Revoke Microsoft Credentials
You can revoke access to the connected Microsoft account at any time.
Revoking access:
immediately prevents Asset Importer from retrieving data from the Microsoft source
does not delete any data that has already been imported into AssetIT
To revoke Microsoft credentials:
Click Revoke Microsoft Credentials at the Source tab. You’ll be redirected to your Atlassian account management page.
Locate the Microsoft account access:
Scroll down to Atlassian third party account access.
Find the connected Microsoft account.
